Khandagiri and Udayagiri
These twin hills are situated in Bhubaneswar. There are 117 caves in these twin hills. The Rani Gumpha is the largest cave in the Udaygiri hill. Another famous cave called the Hati Gumpha is also there where the rock is engraved with Hathigumpha inscription by King Kharavela. These caves contain a Barabhuja temple and a Jain temple.
Dhauli (The Peace Pagoda)
The rock edict of Dhauli bears the early history of Kalinga and this rock edict was engraved by Emperor Ashoka. river daya increases its beauty. In the evening the scenery is beautiful, which attracts the visitors.
Rajarani temple is one of the most renowned temples in Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha. It is made from the wonderful red and gold sandstone, which is locally known as Rajarani and this is what gives the temple its name of Rajarani. The major attractions of the temple consist of the elaborately carved figurines. Rajarani temple of Bhubaneshwar is dedicated to Lord Brahma. The origin of this temple can be dated back to the eleventh century. It is an epitome of elegance and grace. The sculptural images adorning its interiors are simply outstanding. Females are portrayed in different postures, like holding the child in their arms, holding mirror in their hand, etc. There is no other temple of this kind in the entire state of Odisha. Rajarani temple has also been ornamented with marvelous artistic sculptural carvings and stands enclosed within a beautiful garden.
Konark – Sun Temple – World Heritage Site
Sun Temple of Konark, built in the middle of 13th century, is a massive conception of artistic magnificence and engineering dexterity. King Narasimhadeva I, the great ruler of the Ganga dynasty had built this temple, with the help of 1200 artisans within a period of 12 years (1243-1255 A.D.). Konark Temple was designed in the form of a gorgeously decorated chariot mounted on 24 wheels, each about 10 feet in diameter, and drawn by 7 mighty horses. It is really difficult to understand, how this huge temple, every inch-space of which was so wonderfully carved, could have been completed within such a short time. Whatever that might be, the Konark temple even in its present ruined state, still a wonder to the whole world. Great poet Rabindranath Tagore wrote of Konark: “here the language of stone surpasses the language of man.”
Day 01: Arrival at Bhubaneswar
On arrival at Bhubaneswar airport / railway station meet by our representative & transfer to hotel. If time permits half day sightseeing of famous city temples like Lingaraj, Parsurameswar, Mukteswar (known as the ‘gem of Orissan architecture’) & Rajarani. Overnight stay at Bhubaneswar.
Day 02: Bhubaneswar – Puri
Morning drive to Puri en-route visit Dhauli (Buddhist stupa/ peace pagoda), Hirapur (64 yogini temple) & Pipli (the appliqué work village). On arrival check in to the hotel. Later visit to Lord Jagannath Temple (Non Hindus are not allowed) / Relax on the golden beach of Puri. Overnight stay at Puri.
Day 03: Puri (Bi Cycle Tour) – Optional
Morning local sightseeing which includes visit to different villages Kumbhar-pada (temple pottery village), Pathuria sahi (stone carver village), Chitrakar sahi (painter village). Enjoy the sunset and walk along the beach market. Overnight stay at Puri.
Day 04: Puri – Konark (Bi – Cycle Tour) – Optional
Morning enjoy the bi-cycle ride to Konark through through Marine Drive and enjoy the natural beauty of casurina tree. Explore the excellent craftsmanship at Konark sun temple, innocent life style at Fishermen village & serene Chandrabhaga beach. Check in to the Eco Resort, experience the music of waves & Overnight stay.
Day 05: Konark – Raghurajpur (Bi – Cycle Tour) – Optional
Morning drive to Balighai & start the cycle ride to Raghurajpur the artisan village experiencing the simplicity of village life, ploughing the paddy fields – “The Aroma of Orissa”. On arrival check in to the guest house. Post lunch visit Raghurajpur the artisan village. Evening enjoy the Dance programs of Gotipua, Ghoda Nacha & Oddissi. Overnight stay in guest house.
Day 06: Raghurajpur – Bhubaneswar & departure
Morning drive back to Bhubaneswar and transfer to airport for onwards journey.
